Department of Informatics and Media

The Informatics degree programme constitutes as the heart of our department - after a first joint academic year in the Bachelor's degree programme you move along to specialize your studies in one of the established majors Intelligent Systems, Network Computing and Digital Media. Qualified students have the possibility of continuing into the Informatics Master's programme

In order to correspond to the growing importance and the desire of our students for an international education we offer an international degree programme in Applied Informatics. Among a variety of aspects, this programme distinguishes itself due to an integrated semester abroad and English-instructed courses. Students of this programme also have the possibility of (consecutively) acquiring a Master's degree.

In addition to the classic study "on campus" and an international orientation, we are particularily concerned with long-distance respectively online studies: In 2001 we introduced the Online Informatics and Media degree programme (see www.oncampus.de) which helps you combine work, family and career without having to be constantly present.

Speaking of Bachelor and Master: Our Department has converted its entire structure of study to the international Bachelor and Master degree system.
By 2006 all programmes of the Department were accredited by the ASIIN agency. This way we can offer the best opportunities
for a national and international exchange and a mutual recognition of degrees.

In the winter semester 2007/2008 the Department introduced the new Medical Informatics degree programme - this is carried out in close cooperation with the neighboring Brandenburg Clinical Center, an academic teaching hospital of the Charité Berlin.

The Department of Informatics and Media is especially proud of its good performance in the CHE-University Ranking: After the very good results in 2003, the Department was able to keep its top ranking position in 2006 - with a total of 71 rated Universities of Applied Sciences in Germany, Switzerland and Austria, the FH Brandenburg's top position stays unchanged.
