Studying at the Department of Informatics and Media
Informatics is a young, dynamic and exciting science. More than any of the other sciences informatics and digital media have penetrated almost every aspect of life and will continue to shape the future even more.
The field of application ranges from the simple PC to the intelligent traffic control center, from the Internet and multimedia services with its companians of our everyday life, such as mobile phone and iPod to high definition television.
The wide spectrum of topics in informatics and digital media is reflected by the range of courses offered at the Department of Informatics and Media. Individual disciplines are connected to each other by a proven mulit-disciplinary approach.
Courses range from network, Internet-based and mobile systems in the field of Network Computing image recognition, artificial intelligence, embedded systems and robots in the field of Intelligent Systems to the production of videos, DVDs, websites and games in the field of Digital Media.

The increasing international orientation Informatics take on, is reflected in our international Bachelor programme Applied Informatics: This degree programme offers you an integrated semester abroad at one of our partner universities and a wide range of English-instructed courses.
In the winter semester 2007/08 we have introduced a new Bachelor degree programme Medical Informatics in cooperation with the Municipal Hospital of Brandenburg. You are offered an interdisciplinary training in informatics and medicine, especially designed for the challenges of the rapidly growing healthcare market.
Based on the competences and skills acquired in your Bachelor degree, you can opt for a more detailed academic qualification - such as a career-accompanying training - in our Master's degree programmes as a regular course of study (informaticsInformatics (M.Sc.) or Digital Media) or an online degree programme.
